If you want to work in an environment that is challenging, stimulating and constantly evolving then neuroscience nursing is for you. This large 2 star rated NHS Trust, needs D, E and F-Grade nurses to work in a neurosurgery ward and attached HDU and offers many opportunities for staff both professionally and socially. Experience in Neurosurgery not needed for D-grade posts but an interest preferred.

This is a busy 21-bedded neurosurgical ward caring for a broad spectrum of neurosurgical conditions ranging from tumours, subarachnoid haemorrhage to trauma. It also manages both elective and emergency admissions on a 24-hour basis 7 days a week. The ward manages those clients requiring level 0 and level 1 care.

The ward has a fully equipped gym and a designated team of physiotherapists. They play a vital role in both the acute and rehabilitation stages of a clients care.

There is a 4-bedded HDU attached and provides care for those clients requiring close neurological observation and/or monitoring following:
- Neurosurgical interventions/procedures
- Or having sustained neurotrauma.

Other Clients managed in this area are those who have:
- Had an Invasive neurovascular procedure
- A Low or deteriorating Glasgow coma score
- Circulatory instability
- Fluid imbalance
- Respiratory instability
- Invasive monitoring
- Clients from the neurosurgical critical care unit (NCCU) are also managed in the NHDU following discharge from their care.
