Site Engineer – Groundworks and RC frame at Hemel Hempstead. 2nd Engineer required for additional phases on a new project initially involving some land clearance and considerable amounts of “cut and fill”, so an understanding of the sequencing of both these processes would be an advantage but not a necessity. You will be setting out for the Groundworks & RC Frame Contractor.

Site operations will include land and site clearance, recycling of demolition materials for reuse on site, excavation, drainage, piling, pilecaps and groundbeams, RC slabs, superstructure in both vertical and horizontal elements, moving on to the externals at the end of the project. Overall project duration for these phases is expected to be 4 to 5 months, with further phases still to be let.

An Engineer with a broad engineering background capable of understanding the various sequences of operations as well as organising the Engineering elements of this site through the various phases is required. You must have good written and oral communications in English as you will be expected to clearly communicate to the trades as to the information you have set out. You must be fully competent in the use of EDM’s and able to interpolate from drawings.

Qualifications, ideally to a tertiary level with a recognised Engineering qualification would be acceptable, whilst purely practical experience would be acceptable if supported by relevant years on site. Previous experience with one of the recognised Groundworks or RC frame contractors would be preferred. This is a role that would be suitable for a Site or Setting out Engineer seeking to take on a more Senior Engineer’s role at a later stage.

The Contractor is recognised as a successful groundworks and RC frame contractor working in the south of England. You will need good communication skills, be IT literate and above all represent the contractor in a professional manner.

Scheduled as a 10 to 12 month project the company is seeking a committed candidate for the freelance role. A 5 or possibly 6 day week will operate. CSCS certified as a minimum, with a current First Aid certificate an ideal extra. Excellent potential for the right candidate.
