This unitary authority has an engineering services department who are responsible for the transport network and the maintenance of highways, street lighting, road bridges, foot bridges and subways. This team is passionate about the quality and efficiency of the service they offer the local area.

As a highways inspector for this local authority you will be involved in a variety of different inspections from trenches, safety, reinstatement and sample inspections. You will be responsible for fining contractors for not complying with the New Roads and Street Works Act and recording defects and maintenance issues within your given area. This role is an excellent opportunity to get involved in local government inspection work for applicants who have experience in highway construction or utilities work.

Experience within a highways construction or utilities background is essential for this role alongside the NRSWA qualification. Previous highways inspection experience and the knowledge of hand held computers would be desirable but not essential.
