Port and Marine Engineer (Civil)
Location: Surrey
Contract: Up to £50/hr (based on experience)

The Role
Our client is a huge multi-disciplinary consultancy with ambitions to double in size by 2012. The successful candidate will join the specialist team providing conceptual and detailed technical design solutions to a wide range of marine civil engineering challenges. The Successful candidate will also help produce engineering design calculations and technical documents for the procurement of engineering projects. The role is suitable for an engineer with previous ports or marine experience interested in being involved in diverse major UK and international projects. Dependant on projects this position may involve travelling to the Caribbean, Western Europe, the Gulf and Africa.

Principal Accountabilities
•Undertake and manage the day to day operations of projects in Port and Marine Engineering; the production of engineering design calculations, engineering design details and engineering reports for port and maritime projects and contribute to the production of technical commercial and contractual documents for the procurement of engineering projects.
•Provide professional advice and service to the company and their clients.
•Operate in accordance with the corporate health and safety, environment and quality standards.
•Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.

Requirements
•Degree qualified in a Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering discipline.
•A Marine Engineering postgraduate qualification would be a bonus.
•Chartered Membership of a Professional Institution.
•Extensive knowledge of UK design codes, standards and specifications.
•Proven track record of delivering technical projects and reports.
•Experience of some of the following: quay walls, block walls, steel jetties, suspended docks, dolphins, dredging, reclamation, revetments, paving, fenders and general port infrastructure.
•Competent with MS Office suite programs.
•Ability to work on own initiative on technical and business matters and manage your own time and that of others
•Willingness to mentor, support and develop junior staff
