Senior Engineer – Highways Structures
Location – Hertfordshire
Contract – Up to £30/hr

The Role
Our client is one of the UK's leading highways companies involved in managing, maintaining and improving thousands of kilometres of motorways, trunk roads and local roads throughout the UK.

The successful candidate will play a major part in the Structures Team. The position will involve designing and assessing highways structures to current codes and standards. The position will also require overseeing Health & Safety and liaising with the police, clients and works teams.

Principal Accountabilities
•Design and assessment of highway structures to current codes and standards.
•Undertake Health and Safety activities as required under CDM regulations.
•Liaise with the Police, Client and Works Team, statutory undertakers and other bodies as necessary.
•Commercial awareness. Monitor financial aspects of work.
•Undertake site visits, take photographs, video and prepare site records as necessary.
•Ensure works on site are monitored and controlled effectively.
•Attend liaison meetings with Client as necessary.
•Deal with correspondence and promote the Clients best image.
•Comply with company instructions, procedures and requirements.
•Attend and be actively involved in team meetings.

Requirements
•Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
•IEng or CEng qualified.
•In-depth knowledge of civil and structural engineering,
•The ability to lead a team.
•Excellent report-writing and IT skills
•Detailed understanding of design codes and standards.
•Drive and determination to meet time and financial targets.
•Valid UK drivers licence.
•Must be a team player, with an adaptable and flexible approach.
