Project Manager, RC frame, Southampton. New build £3m RC frame package.

The Company has been operating for 40 years and has experienced steady growth over that period. Their focus within the construction industry is to provide a professional service that focuses on civil engineering, groundworks and reinforced concrete structures.

The Project is a new build RC frame working with a repeat client where the RC frame is a £3m element, with a programme of 27 weeks. There may be additional external works packages that will increase the overall value of the works.

You should be a stand alone type, capable of running all aspects of a new build RC frame, reporting to a visiting Contracts Manager. You will be expected to be fully accountable for all day to day site operations, programming on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, commercially aware as to Value Added Engineering and the impact on the programme and profitability of the project. This may suit either someone who has already run projects of this size or a candidate who has been a No 2 on a larger project and is ready to take the No 1 role.

Qualified to a tertiary level in Civil Engineering you will be familiar with current construction techniques and expected to contribute to the company’s policy of repeat business won through satisfactorily servicing clients needs and expectations.

Health & Safety is a high priority within the company and you must be able to demonstrate a pro-active approach in minimising risk whilst still maintaining good output rates of production.

Teamwork is valued and you will have access to excellent staff from the Professional and Trades within the company, however you will also be able to nominate your own team members, if relevant, to enhance the project team.

Communication at all levels is critical and you will support the company in ensuring that all staff have adequate oral and written skill levels to minimise errors incurred through lack of communication.

Duration and Salary. The project has a programme length currently standing at 27 weeks and the options are available for a Permanent or a Freelance / Contract role. The Salary package will be in the £70k region, though this is fully negotiable on merit and will apply on a pro rata basis for Freelance or Contract staff. The company is steadily building up work on the south coast and is keen to increase their presence here.
