Job Description

Project Engineer for a Basement Construction Company. To work in a high-growth sector of the Construction industry. Established basement design and construction company working across London. The company has been operating for fourteen years and has grown significantly in the last two years.

Growth. Due to this growth the company is now looking for an additional Project Engineer to run new residential basement projects. You will be involved in running challenging, interesting residential basement development projects set below some of the highest valued residencies in the capital.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Pre-job planning including method statement and development of program and budget.
• Setting out and levels.
• Instruction of Foremen on site.
• Ongoing oversight and inspection of work on site ensuring safety and conformity to plan.
• Maintenance of site health and safety.
• Measurement and ordering of structural steel.
• Lead, motivate and monitor site team
• Cost control on job including oversight of ongoing material, plant and labour costs.
• Interaction with Design Engineers during job covering temporary and permanent works.
• Weekly estimate of value of work done used to generate invoices to Customer.
• Customer interaction including follow-up for any outstanding payments.

The Position would suit an energetic, intelligent Engineer who enjoys the independence of running their own jobs from start to finish, covering all construction and commercial aspects. High standards are required of Project Engineers due to the responsible nature of the position.

The Successful Candidate will have several years’ experience of ground works and RC frames, as well as a sound knowledge of temporary works, preferably in a refurbishment or similar environment. An individual with specific basement construction experience will be at an advantage. It would also be of benefit if a candidate were able to do basic engineering calculations, especially for temporary works.

Suitable Academic Qualifications are a degree or HND in engineering, construction or a similar discipline. Commercially you should have demonstrated the ability to contribute to the management of projects to a budget, and ideally have developed project budgets yourself.

The Company is well situated to win further work in today’s uncertain market and will provide an excellent opportunity for an assured self-starter. You must be a car driver for this role. Candidates will only be considered who can prove that they are legally entitled to legally live and work in the UK.

Salary: £42 to £45,000 negotiable, plus bonus, car/allowance and expenses.
