Job Description

Quantity Surveyor – Groundworks and RC frames at Wembley. Brand new project initially involving some aspects of demolition and land clearance, so an understanding of the sequencing of both these processes would be an advantage but not a necessity. You will be working for the Groundworks Contractor. Then you move on to the RC frame for a project that will be about 20 weeks.

Site operations will include demolition, land and site clearance, recycling of demolition materials for reuse on site, excavation, drainage, piling, pilecaps and groundbeams, RC slabs, superstructure in both vertical and horizontal elements, moving on to all the externals at the end of the project.

A Quantity Surveyor with a broad Civils and Construction background capable of understanding the various operations as well as organising the Commercial elements of this site through the various phases is required.

Qualifications ideally to a tertiary level with a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification would be acceptable, whilst purely practical experience would be acceptable if supported by relevant years on site. Previous experience with one of the recognised Groundworks or RC frame contractors would be preferred. This is a role that would be suitable for either an assistant QS seeking to take on a more senior role, who will work under an established QS, or a “stand alone” QS who is also able to run additional sites.

The Contractor is recognised as a successful groundworks and RC frame contractor working in the south of England. You will need good communication skills, be IT literate, able to liaise with the various statutory bodies involved with this work and above all represent our client in a professional manner.

Scheduled as a 10 to 12 month project the company is seeking a committed QS and can offer the position as either a Permanent or Contract role. This sector of the Company turns over £8-10m yearly. They have other live contracts and contracts of £7m and £9m due to start later this year / early next year.
