Job Description
Planner for Construction Contractor. Immediate requirement. Head office based in north-west London or site based in the Docklands area, both offices are close to Main line stations. At least 4 – 6 years planning experience in the Construction and/or Civils sectors, preferably for a Main Contractor or substantial sub-contractor. To work within the Planning department and to work closely with the Construction and Building Divisions of this established Contractor.
Your experience and skills will be in most of the following disciplines:
• Devising how and when the design process will be implemented and managed
• Creating integrated programmes covering design, procurement and construction
• Creating temporary works solutions, accommodation, labour estimate requirements and a prefabrication strategy if feasible
• Proficiency in Primavera P3e or Power Project
• Experience of RC works is highly advantageous
• Knowledge of the build process from frame through fit out to handover
• Tender experience is highly advantageous
• Excellent Communication Skills, both written and oral
• Devising methods and logistics to be used for transporting labour, materials and equipment
• A background in construction or civil engineering
• Previous experience as a Planning Engineer and full comprehension of UK procedures
• Creating graphical phasing plans for ease of communication
• Identifying operational requirements for the completion of each element, area or phase relative to security, facilities management and maintenance regimes
• Inputting into buildability studies including involving specialist input for specific elements
• Creating the project risk analysis and risk management plan
The Company is a Principal Contractor on many of their projects and the main sub-contractor on others, so has to provide different elements according to their role on each scheme. As they expand they now require an experienced planner to work within the planning department. The projects range from £3m to £75m plus so you will have plenty of scope.
The Role as Senior Planning Engineer / Construction Planner will involve working on various tenders with a view to winning and heading up projects in London and the South East. This role requires an individual who has an in depth understanding of project planning, design and engineering, procurement, logistics and construction activities. Previous experience working on
substantial construction projects in the UK is essential as well as drive and ambition. The projects are either mixed- development, residential or commercial.
Salary and expectations. To reflect your importance in the Construction programme the Company will offer a market-leading salary of up to £75,000 per annum plus car / allowance, health, pension, bonus.
