The North of England team is supported by national Water Management resources and involves significant multi-disciplinary work with close liaison with teams in Infrastructure, Structural and Civil Engineering and in Soil and Groundwater investigation.

The majority of the group's workload at present relates to flood risk assessment either to accompany planning applications for development schemes or to advise land owners and insurance agents of the flood risk posed to their sites and appropriate mitigation measures that could be adopted.

In addition, the team supports the environmental and engineering sectors of URS in other hydrological and drainage assessments, including water quality assessments, thermal discharge modelling, catchment water resource assessment and bridge or culvert sizing.

You will conduct flood risk assessments and water resource assessments using appropriate software.

You will provide advice to scientists and engineers working on Masterplan designs and drainage schemes for urban development and infrastructure projects.

You will construct, calibrate and analyse hydrological and hydraulic models of watercourses and floodplains for flood risk and water quality assessments.

You may undertake hydrological and catchment water resource modelling and provide support to environmental scientists in the fields of contaminant risk assessment, environmental impact assessment and water resource assessments.

The role will involve the analysis of field and analytical data and the preparation of accurate, concise reports.

During project implementation, you should have a focus on developing and maintaining strong relationships with our existing Clients.

As part of your project management skills, you will be expected to have strong financial and risk management abilities, including experience in interfacing with Clients, contractors and staff to deliver effective, timely and financially sound project solutions.
You will support and mentor junior staff and peers.

You will be expected to build relationships within the company across the North of England and nationally to maximise business opportunities.

You will report to the North of England Development Services Department Head and Service Line Leader for Water Management and aid in developing business leads and business strategies for the company where possible.
