Network Design Engineer

The position will involve some or all of the following key tasks at varying times:

Design Work
High value strategic consulting work for premium clients, with the following activities:
Design and documentation of IT systems ranging from voice and data to audiovisual systems, Core Network Design, VOIP, WiFi and Cellular Communications.
Complete design work for – telecommunication facilities, commercial, retail,
hospital, pharmaceutical or industrial developments, refurbishment or tenancy fit outs.
Constantly seeks to adopt the most up to date practices and to be innovative in their application.
CCNA Qualified.

Research & Development (R&D)
Provide input on UK practices and provide support to R&D committee members.
Undertake R&D tasks as identified from time to time including, for example:
Review of standard documentation
Review of applicable industry standards and design guides
Review of new technology and reporting on it's application
Research of products, techniques, product alternatives etc.

Project Co-ordination Role
Act as project co-ordinator on selected projects - responsible for the firm's overall
involvement on the project and the administration of design interface between
disciplines. Disciplines may include: communications, security, lifts, mechanical,
electrical, fire protection and public health.
As project co-ordinator, take the role of prime point of contact between the client
and the consultancy.
Marketing
Responsibility to develop and expand the capability for the Communications
Services Group, including Network Design, VOIP, WiFi and Cellular
Communications.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with client's and assess their
current and future needs to match the consultancies capabilities accordingly.
Actively market the consultancies services through project involvement, including contacting and visiting potential clients.
Identify new business opportunities in Communications and IT, prepare
submissions, arrange presentations, and secure new business.
Participate in regular section meetings to discuss client issues, proposals, new
opportunities and marketing strategies.

Training
Provide on the job training to graduates and new staff.
Identify areas where training may assist either individuals or the group.
Take part in personal training as required.
