Job Description
A fantastic opportunity to work for one for one of the UK's 'Main Civil Construction Contractors' as a Project Manager. You will be an integral part of this exciting Motorway Project.
Job Purpose
* Manage all aspects of a Construction Project or several smaller projects and deliver safely and in accordance with performance targets and company procedures.
* Create and develop successful project teams.
* Contribute to the generation of future business
* Manage client and external relationships
Health, Safety & Environment
Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies
Implement the relevant requirements of the SMS within their area of responsibility
Ensure that their staff receive or have access to copies of the Environmental Policy and are kept informed of environmental developments and issues
Ensure that the Environmental Policy and appropriate parts of Environmental Procedures are effectively communicated to the workforce, particularly to those engaged on activities that have been identified as likely to have a significant environmental impact
Principle Duties & Accountabilities
* Establish the Project Execution Plan and set up the project organisation for its implementation
* Create and develop successful project teams.
* Manage, supervise, train and mentor the project team to enable them to optimise their work contribution
* Set targets to measure performance, and drive continuous improvement
* Deliver performance in accordance with targets and procedures
* Manage the process in a manner which enhances the reputation of the company and increases prospects for future work.
* Develop potential future work opportunities through relationships with members of the construction community.
* Keep abreast of developments in professional field
* Adherence to policies and procedures
Key Working Relationships
Supervising responsibility for: Agent (the whole site team)
Liaison with:
* Internal:
- Works Manager (works sequence, resourcing and workforce issues)
- Quantity Surveyor (all commercial and contractual issues)
- Public Relations Manager (report on all aspects of stakeholder relationships)
- Engineering Manager (all engineering aspects)
* External:
- Design Manager (resolution of contractual and commercial issues, design status and philosophy)
- Client's representative (report on progress and confirming requirements, scope and instruction)
- Subcontractors (initial contract agreement and resolution of issues)
- Local Authorities (consents, access issues, service connections)
- Other contractors (synchronising activities, setting shared goals)
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required
Essential:
* Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
* Understanding of Engineering Principles
* Knowledge and understanding of construction contact law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.
* Extensive Technical knowledge and experience of construction techniques and best practises.
* Understanding of procurement, financing and accounting processes and procedures.
* Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software).
* Relevant CSCS Card
* Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
