SITE ENGINEER –CIVILS. Working for a medium sized Civils & Groundworks contractor this is a position that would suit an Engineer with considerable experience in installing Cast Iron drainage. This will be encased in concrete.

The Work involves excavation and groundworks, temporary and permanent drainage, with further work on RC being primarily structural modifications to existing buildings in the area and is in the medium to larger sized civils end of the market. It will be necessary to break into existing live drainage to check inverts and to set out for new work.

Your Role will involve working with both EDM and tape as there is a need to tap into live Foul and Storm drainage, checking actual invert levels, adjusting falls to suit, setting out for new drainage. There will be new valves, junctions, spurs and a deep 225 diameter line with spurs for proposed lines. An organised approach and the ability to keep good record details will be necessary. The project runs for 3 – 4 months. You will need to calculate and call off quantities and materials.

Preferably you will have a recognised Engineering or Construction related qualification. Possession of a CSCS card is essential, an NRSWA qualification and a First Aid certificate are optional. You must have good communication skills and be able to work closely with the Foreman and Drainlayers.

Experience with either a main contractor or a sub-contractor will be equally relevant, so long as you have a good understanding of what is involved in the civils elements of construction. A good working knowledge of CAD would be a help, with IT skills being essential, a more senior candidate may suit so long as you possess the minimum skills listed.

The work will probably be based on a 5.5 day working week, and additional weekend work may be available in certain situations.
