Job Description

Groundworks Foreman M/F – Social Housing. Immediate requirement for a new build Housing Association project in Dartford. This is initially a contract position and could become a Permanent position if suitable. The Company run their own Groundworks gangs and an additional requirement has arisen for a good Foreman.

The Projects are generally in the South-East London or North Kent areas and range from 10/12 to 60 plus units. You would be required to run a single project from initial exploration through all the groundworks phases until completion, establishing the infrastructure through to the hard and soft landscaping.

The Contractor has over the last decade built a reputation of innovation in the projects it undertakes. Operating mainly in the South-East London and North-West Kent catchment area. They primarily undertake brownfield residential development, but are increasingly involved in mixed use/tenure, commercial and office projects.

Their aim is to have a clear, uncomplicated approach to the development process
This approach has created longstanding partnership relationships with Local Authority planning and building control departments, Housing Associations, Architects, Consultants, Land Owners and Land Agents. Relishing the opportunity to take on less conventional sites and add value through the development process, their 'in house' construction arm ensures that the development vision is turned into the physical reality. Consequently they have work planned over the next 18 plus months.

Recent Projects include:
• 76 No 2 & 3 bed flats and 96 studio flats primarily for key worker occupation. 7 storey concrete framed construction, completed on budget and 6 months ahead of programme.
• The demolition of two adjacent houses and the construction of 14 No apartments for private sale.

Your background will clearly demonstrate considerable involvement in Housing Association projects with a full understanding of the HA requirements associated with the Contractor’s obligation to provide value for money and yet maintain commercial returns. Clear oral and written communication will be needed. You should have a current ticket for 360 excavators.

A sound Background in the Groundworks field is suitable. You must be able to clearly demonstrate a sound career history and development, working for long periods with previous employers. You will probably need at least 6-10 years experience in Groundworks to be able to fulfil this role.

The package of £130 - £140 daily plus travelling expenses is negotiable for the right candidate; transport can be provided for a permanent employee. Trades qualifications are sought, though not essential, with a current First Aid certificate an
Advantage, however a full understanding of current Health & Safety legislation is paramount and further CITB qualifications would be an advantage.
