Job Description

Planner required for an Established Contractor who has been working in the London market for over 40 years ago and is currently seeking an experienced Planner to work on current projects and in planned growth and continued expansion. Preferably experienced in working on major high rise residential projects. This is a Permanent position with a successful contractor working from Head Office and on site as the situation dictates. Current projects run until 2011. Salary quoted is a guide and will not be a limiting factor for the right person.

The Projects range in value to £75m. Your input is primarily sought for the Build and Fit Out elements of Construction, taking over from Shell & Core. Engineering or Construction backgrounds would be equally suitable so long as you are able to take the project through the Build phases to handover. Design & Build expertise on larger Residential schemes would be particularly advantageous.

Formal Qualifications are not essential, however you will be expected to lead the Planning process and advise team members at Head Office and on site. Coming from a sound Construction or Engineering background you should ideally have worked your way up and have at least 6-8 years relevant industry experience.

You will have an overall brief, whereby you will work closely with other team members including Project Managers, the Commercial side and Technical & Design staff and have a practical problem solving approach to Construction.

Strong Communication skills, both oral and written will be needed, as you will be expected to liaise closely with the Technical side and the Project team on site; additionally you will need to use Planning software.

Your Responsibilities will include:
• Translating detailed information from contract documents into Construction programmes
• Formulating short-term and temporary works programmes
• Ensuring that programmes and revised programmes are distributed to all relevant parties including project team and sub-contractors
• Co-ordinating and managing information within the project, including design and technical information.
• Forecasting and reporting variations from the agreed construction programme and cost plan
• Liaison with Project Management and the Commercial side
• Reviewing Tender Programmes
• Assisting with Technical Submissions.
• Formulating Contract Programmes.

Located within the M25 the Contractor primarily works in the London area and you will be expected to make site visits to the projects which are all currently within the M25.

Salary and Package. Negotiable, with a package dependant on experience and ability. The full package can be tailored to suit the individual and is flexible.
