Job Description
Quantity Surveyor, Rail. New position for a Civil Engineering contractor. There is long term Rail potential for this position.
The Role involves all surveying duties involved in pre and post contract work on a 30 kilometer length of railtrack. Responsible for the preparation and agreement of Applications for Payment.
Ensure Revenue is maximised and project and business cost minimised. Responsible for managing the Change Control Process including preparation of notices to protect the company's commercial and contractual position and ensure that adequate and appropriate records are being maintained to protect the company's commercial position. Responsible for the Sub Contract Administration and assisting the Contracts Manager in the monthly review of PSRs for the project and identify and report on anomalies, suggesting corrective action where necessary. Provide advice, information and support to the Contracts Manager and assist in the preparation of budgets.
The Scope of Works includes removal and re-instatement of all ducting, trunking, cabling and associated works, to include soft and hard landscaping.
The Successful candidate will need to have at least 5 years Rail related experience to be able to understand the complexities and logistics involved in working in a Live Rail Environment. You must have sound Commercial awareness being strong in the Estimating and Pricing areas, good numerically in the preparation of Commercial and Project documentation.
Qualifications are not essential though a Quantity Surveying Degree would be preferred. The important elements are that you have worked in Rail related projects and understand the timescales in presenting the various submissions for compliance and approval. You must have worked for either a main contractor or a sub contractor, be fully IT literate in Word, Excel and estimating/measurement/cost control software, and most other applications; have good oral and written skills and have a positive approach to your tasks.
The Contractor is a Civils contractor who works in Rail, Commercial and Educational sectors.
Certificates and Accreditation to work in the Rail environment are essential.
This is a Contract position initially, though a Permanent role may be available at a later stage.
