This company remit stretches far beyond the network of railway lines that run the length and breadth of the UK. From stations to tracks, signals, bridges and tunnels, they own and manage a vast number of assets. During such uncertain economic times this is rare indeed. In fact, they have funding secured for an infrastructure investment programme that could change the face of Britain.

They have the largest civil engineering asset base in the UK consisting of 40,000 number bridges, 750 number tunnels, 13,000 miles of embankment/cutting, 1,500 miles of retaining wall, 21,300 number culverts and 120 miles of Sea Defence. The scope of the works delivered includes examinations, assessments, work bank identifications, detailed designs and the implementation of projects, ranging in value from £10k to £35m. The delivered annual outturn is £400m per annum on circa 1000 projects per annum.

As a Commercial Manager you will provide effective contract management by overseeing the work of our contractors to ensure that optimum standards are achieved and value for money are ensured. You will be an effective and proven negotiator, bringing together detailed knowledge of pre and post contract management together with procurement and relevant legislation.

You should have post graduate experience in commercially supporting investment projects and hold a degree in quantity surveying or a related area and have obtained or are working towards RICS or other relevant accreditation. Ideally you will have exposure to heavy asset industries such as rail, utilities, building or construction.
