Job Description

Senior Quantity Surveyor managing the Major Bridge Steelwork Packages within the project

Requirements
•Cost Engineering - be able to apply principles of cost management & elemental cost analysis including life cycle implications where required
•Commercial Management – The ability to prepare and submit a major claim
•Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness - Enforces in commercial terms, the Safety policies & compliance procedures including Health & Safety Plans
•Business and Customer Awareness – Understands the implications of operations & the knock-on effect on business
Responsibilities

•Cost Engineering - Applies principles of cost management & elemental cost analysis including life cycle implications where required
•Estimating - Undertakes risk analysis in the context of construction. Manage the preparation of Target Costs
•Planning - Reviews progress of the project against the various programmes. Preparation of delay and disruption programmes. Monitors & controls critical elements of the process. Identifies & communicates threats to budget & programme.
•Project Management - Report and explain the commercial progress to senior project staff. Cost Planning and pre-contract cost control.
•Procurement - Evaluate and negotiate tenders including Subcontractors and suppliers. Assess and identify risks and opportunities as part of risk management.
•Commercial Management - Risk and opportunity analysis, Advising and contractual matters and formulating correspondence, Undertakes benchmarking exercises & sets / monitors Performance indicators (KPI).
•Development, Recruitment and Retention - Targets work that can develop individuals, interviewing staff grades Student to C6 level.
•Business and Customer Awareness - Ability to mitigate potentially damaging situations.
