Job Description

1.To manage the work of a team of EWOs ensuring that laid down service standards are met.2.To supervise any Court Orders imposed by Magistrates using comprehensive knowledge of related legislation.3.To carry a small case work and allocated schools to support. 4.To provide formal supervision for a team of EWOs on an individual basis at regular intervals ensuring casework is managed to agreed targets and performance indicators are met. To ensure appropriate remedial action is instigated for EWOs who do not fulfill their responsibilities.5.To contribute and give pracatical and legal advice regarding general casework and practices at IST(Integrated Support Teams) and CAPs (Children Area Partnerships) meetings.6.To provide detailed, professional advice on all aspects of Education Welfare work to EWOs through demonstrating an in depth knowledge of child care, family and education legislation, government initiatives to reduce persistent absence and changes in legislation that impact on the duties of EWOs 7.To contribute to the professional development of Education Welfare Officers through supervision by identifying individual training needs and how these can be achieved through internal or external means.8.To provide advice and guidance to Headteachers regarding the management of attendance, through using knowledge and experience of initiatives and how these can be implemented successfully. To assist Headteachers in the writing of Attendance Policies and providing information on systems to be instigated throughout school through training for school staff and governors.
