Job Description

economicsontrolsechnologiesxchangeemsormanceneurpose of the job is to act as the catalyst for improvement of energy efficiency, environment monitoring and reduction of carbon emissions across the Trust.

The post holder will control Energy Management by identifying opportunities to reduce consumption of utilities, and related CO2 emissions, and by developing and managing a programme of work to deliver cost effective efficiency projects.

The post holder shall be responsible for developing the Trust's energy policy and subsequently ensuring that the operational procedures, that supports the policy are fully implemented and observed at all times

The Energy Manager shall perform all duties associated with the procurement and trading of CO2 allowances under the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS).

This will be a ‘hands on' management appointment but the post holder will have no formal managerial responsibility for the day to day activities of the engineering team.

Candidates will need to have the following experience and qualifacitons

Qualification and Professional Accreditation·
Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline·
Incorporate Engineer·
Engineering chartered status OR working towards this accreditation
Experience and Knowledge
·Sound understanding of the physics of the built environment particular the energy characteristics of buildings and their associated systems·
Full appreciation of the technology of engineering services within buildings including their operational characteristics and energy performance·Good understanding of building services control systems·
Ability to carry out life cycle analysis of engineering and energy systems ·
Clear understanding of the procurement and trading of CO2 allowances under the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS).
·Knowledge of all relevant UK and European legislation
·Experience of the commodity based markets for gas and electricity supplies and their link to the International Petroleum Exchange·
Full appreciation of the dynamics of these markets including the impact of site characteristics such as, time of day, load shape, load demand, site generation.
·Knowledge of the regulated water industry and the procedures by which the Office of Water Services (OfWAT) control prices in each regulated period·
Knowledge of specialist software applications, i.e. BMS·
Ability to innovate and develop non standard solutions for energy efficiencies· Knowledge of renewable energy technologies·
Understanding of the commissioning of engineering systems and associated controls·
Knowledge of combined heat and power (CHP) in terms of the application of technology and economics·
Ability to provide comprehensive financial analysis utilising tools like discounted cash flow (DCF), payback, etc·
Understanding of Estates Information Return Collection (ERIC)·
Experience in the preparation of project briefs and the composition of performance specification and technical reports
