Principal Architect (Rail)

This Principal Rail Architect role exists to join the Rail Division of this large multidisciplinary practice which has a large portfolio of diverse projects throughout the world. Most current work is with Major projects and the other Underground and Network Rail infrastructure in and around London but have current projects in many other locations around the world. The geographic spread changes to meet the available opportunities.

Additionally providing support to a separate rail company in Australia and a significant local presence in Poland and the UAE.

Current Projects include Crossrail, Tottenham Court Road Station, Thameslink, some far east cities metro extensions and entirely new schemes within Europe.

Key Objectives are to manage the architectural input to transportation projects and the coordination with all other interfacing disciplines.

Define objectives and timescales for work of others, check and approve output.
Contribute to definition of interfaces with other disciplines, monitor and manage the interfaces
Check and approve all drawings output. Take the lead on all architectural issues on projects internally and externally

Key Responsibilities
+To manage a team of 10 - 15 Architects
+ Manage all architectural input on rail projects, including LU / NR station new designs, refurbishments and upgrades reporting to a Project Manager on project related issues
+ manage and check designs
+ manage multi-disciplinary interfaces

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

+Must be RIBA chartered
+Must have thorough experience of UK rail station design for NR / LUL or other Major public infrastructure projects.
+multi-disciplinary coordination / management experience
+personal gravitas, motivation, and ability to motivate others
+good communication and interpersonal skills
+Microstation proficient
