Job Description
This Company is one of the world's leading rail engineering consultancies. Its rail business is the largest in its field in Europe.
The RAM Engineer position involves developing business in the area of rail vehicles asset management, and growing a team of engineers in line with market demand.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity for developing and marketing specialist asset management services to the rail vehicles market covering manufacturers, ROSCOs, TOCs, FOCs and other light rail/metro organisations in the UK and overseas to generate revenue in excess of £250k per annum.
You will also be responsible for the overall project management and successful delivery of projects to meet agreed quality, cost and time parameter.
You should be an experienced engineer who has developed a specialist expertise in the risk/reliability assessment of rail vehicles, whilst maintaining a broad understanding of all rail systems and their interaction.
You will have had extensive experience of working within a safety management / reliability management role; often leading and managing these areas of work as part of a major project.
Able to manage projects to ensure that safety, quality and cost requirements are met.
Able to conduct Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis and Fault Tree analysis and document results.
Able to lead and contribute to Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard Operability (HAZOP) studies.
Knowledge of safety management and risk; As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) methods and techniques.
Understanding of failure management; Failure Recording And Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS).
Awareness of key elements and benefits of Whole Life Cost (WLC) assessment.
Awareness of Reliability Centred Maintenance is desirable.
Thorough knowledge of rail related standards and legislation including European Standards (EN) and British Standards (BS).
Able to understand engineering systems and the importance of system modelling for availability. Detailed understanding of the effect of discrete assets on train path availability.
Engineering degree or equivalent required.
Professional institution membership (or has process in place to achieve this).
You should have the ability to lead and manage a team of up to 10 persons and look after their professional and career development.
Confident in communicating with clients at all levels and working with them to understand their requirements and developing effective solutions.
Self motivated and will have good interpersonal skills (including communication, team working and leadership)
Logical, thoughtful and precise worker with attention to detail and ability to record rationale for any controlled changes.
