Job Description

To assist and support the Team Manager in the provision of high quality services to children and young people in care.

To manage and provide supervision, direction and guidance to a group of qualified and unqualified social work staff.

To be a member of the Corporate Parenting Management Team and to contribute within this team to the strategic policy and procedural developments within the Specialist Services Division.

Main responsibilities and tasks

To accept responsibility and manage efficiently and effectively allocated caseloads held by social work staff, ensuring the maintenance of accurate and up to date records as required by the Department.

To appraise staff performance and produce individual learning and development action plans for team members.

To work closely with the Corporate Parenting Team Managers to ensure appropriate accountability, and to deputise as necessary, including assisting the Team Manager in ensuring the effective deployment, monitoring and management of delegated budgets.

To ensure that the service works within the Department’s priorities and decisions about allocation of resources have due regard to the Departments eligibility criteria.

To ensure that Children in Care procedures are consistently applied to children and young people and that care plans are monitored and progressed.

Candidates are required to hold a clear enhanced CRB, references covering the last 5 years and a full CV covering and explaining any gaps in your employment history and also having the reasons for leaving previous posts.

Candidates need to be registered with the General Social Care Council.
