Design Engineer – Highways Maintenance / Schemes

Job Description

We are looking to recruit design engineers who have experience of highway maintenance scheme design. Based out of our East Midlands operation your role will be to offer support to project managers and team leaders within the Highways team. The Highways team works with a large variety of clients including the Highways Agency and Local Authorities and at present have a large number of active projects.

Ideally you will match the following criteria:
• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered Status.
• Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads & Bridges standards
• Able to manage small teams and deputise for the Project Manager
• Works openly and collaboratively to maximise overall organisational health
• Experience working in Highway Maintenance Frameworks.

Responsibilities:
• Preparation of technically sound and innovative design solutions in accordance with relevant codes of practice, standards and advice notes
• Supervise junior staff in the undertaking of scheme designs
• Implement an appropriate level of hazard and risk management in designs in accordance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
• Preparation of reports, scheme programmes, scheme cost estimates and contract documents
