Job Description

You will take forward statutory consultee on planning applications of economic significance and provide support to the Sustainable Development Director and the Head of Planning & Infrastructure when providing comments on Development Plans and guidance to colleagues throughout the agency on position in response.

The successful candidate will have a professional planning qualification with RTPI membership, and 3 years plus experience of working within the broad planning agenda, including spatial planning.

You will have experience and an understanding of the following:
Development control work, experience of working externally with public, private and voluntary sectors.
Planning impacts on economic development, in disadvantaged areas, growth areas, rural and city locations.
Presenting information to groups / individuals - internally and externally and informally and formally.
Providing briefing to colleagues at all levels, both orally and in writing.
Analysing complex information, interpreting guidance and regulations and providing advice to senior colleagues, board members and external partners.
Producing invitations to tender for specific projects
Operating in complex political environments
IT literate (experience of Microsoft Office desirable)

You will have knowledge of current and emerging planning policy, eg Planning reform agenda, sustainable communities agenda and regional planning, knowledge and awareness of issues related to the broad planning agenda with relation to both rural and urban areas, knowledge of the East Midlands economy and knowledge of best practice in terms of encouraging sustainable mixed use developments that link to the wider social and physical infrastructure.
