Job Description

Are you looking for a long term contract position in this current climate? We require Two Section Engineers to be heavily involved in the delivery of planned maintenance and highway schemes in and around the Wiltshire County.


Essential Requirements

• Be confident to liaise between the designers, senior managers and the sub-contractors
• Be able to implement and monitor stringent Health and Safety measures and to encourage the workforce to buy into these procedures.
• Have a sound knowledge in the process required to plan, procure, and set up each new scheme while keeping within the global programme and costings.
• Be confident in authorising subbie progress claims for accuracy within their agreed S.O.R.
• To design and check traffic management drawings to Chapter 8 standard.
• General knowledge of the MCHW, DMRB and TSRGD
• Civil Engineering Qualification (BEng, HND or equivalent)
• CSCS Supervisors Card or above
• Cable Location Street Works Certificate an advantage


Responsibilities

• Manage schemes from early contractor involvement (ECI) in the design phase through to final invoice (schemes up to £1m)
• Liaising with designers and sub-Contractors on build ability issues
• Issuing TQ’s, RFI’s
• Issuing Sub-Contractor instructions
• Programming (MS Project), planning and co-ordinating all works
• Booking and Managing Roadspace
• Writing Health and Safety Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments
• Designing traffic management to chapter 8 on high speed roads
• Procurement of materials
• Managing night shift engineers, programming their works
• Liaising with utility providers, Cat Scanning for services
• Issuing permits to dig, Hot works permits and working at height permits
• Measuring final job, quantifying relevant Schedule of Rates Items
• Invoicing on Schedule of Rates and Quoted Items
• Agreeing job completion and handover with the client’s representative
