Job Description
Our client is a London Borough who is currently seeking the services of a Senior Project Officer / Project Manager. This is a 4 month contract position that is subject to extension. They are a unitary authority responsible for all local government services within their area. The successful applicant will be responsible for a vast range of activities such as strategic land disposal, master plan preparation, tender briefs and driving forward the implementation of large physical regeneration schemes through the Borough.
The suitable candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Effective coordination of projects, ensuring all projects are well planned, effectively briefed and have appropriate budgetary provision and realistic timescales
• Experience with large scale regeneration schemes
• Negotiate with the external public, private and voluntary sector partners including developers to secure regeneration benefits for the borough from new and existing schemes and negotiation with stakeholders on land and property relocation and acquisition matters
• Ensure projects are delivered on time with appropriate levels of quality
• Risk management to ensure project’s outcome and manage these risks accordingly
• Contribute to the management of regeneration programme spend and the achieved target outputs
• Heavily involved with purchasing of strategic sites within the area and relocation where necessary of existing occupiers
• Reporting to the client at regular intervals the status and progress of various projects at any given time
• Success and quality assurance measures
• Budget and timescale tolerance
• Proactively resolve problems and escalate as necessary
• Submission and preparation of bids for funds for regeneration of sites and premises
A successful applicant with meet all the following criteria:
• Degree qualified in relevant discipline
• High-level knowledge of social and economic regeneration practice
• Strong knowledge and credible experience in Project Management ideally in the Residential, Commercial, Leisure and Local Authority environments
• Exposure and experience in regeneration projects in relevant sectors outlined above
• Experience managing corporate development projects
• Be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders
• Good understanding of various funding mechanisms available for regeneration projects
• Leadership experience in combination with knowledge of planning techniques
• Budget and resource allocation
