Job Description

Our local authority client based in the South of England is currently seeking the services of a Project Manager. This contract role will be available until at least January / February 2010. The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of specific projects as directed with the main focus on the Education sector.

Responsibilities will include;
• Effective coordination of projects, ensuring all projects are well planned, effectively briefed and have appropriate budgetary provision and realistic timescales
• Experience managing projects and associated budgets
• Lead, manage and motivate project teams through supporting, challenging and guiding the external project manager
• Ensure projects are delivered on time with appropriate levels of quality
• Risk management to ensure projects' outcome and manage these risks accordingly
• Reporting to the client at regular intervals the status and progress of various projects at any given time
• Success and quality assurance measures
• Budget and timescale tolerance
• Proactively resolve problems and escalate as necessary
• Set up and chair Project Team meetings

The successful applicant with meet all the following criteria:
• Degree Qualified
• Strong knowledge and credible experience in Project Management
• Ideally a local authority/government/civil service background with schools experience.
• Exposure and experience in delivery of complex construction projects in schools
• Good awareness of procurement processes
• Financial reporting experience
• Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders
• Problem solving acumen
• Leadership experience in combination with knowledge of planning techniques
• Budget and resource allocation
• Strong communication skills
