Duties

•Inspection of roads, picking up safety defects and ensuring orders are sent to the contractor the same day
•Logging / sending the above orders via 'Confirm' computer software
•Ensuring that CAT A & B defects are repaired within 24 hours and CAT D defects are repaired within 7 days
•Looking out for potential defects on the highway which may need addressing in the future
•Liaising with the public, mainly via the telephone
•Survey work where needed - eg, surveying sections of the carriageway for road markings

•Experience of highway inspection - knowing what to look for, what constitutes a trip hazard defect, etc
•Highway construction knowledge - what are footways, carriageways, etc constructed of ?
•Knowledge of street furniture - Crash barriers, bollards, etc
•A good level of computer Literacy
•Good communication skills / telephone manner
•Full Clean licence
