Job Description

The engineer will be based on site and have use of a room at the Client's site office, a computer and mobile telephone. His/her principal duties will be to monitor earthworks with particular emphasis on:(i)quality of imported fill (mostly lorry import ), generally as it enters the site but also source visits and record checking of Contractor's test results.(ii)surcharge operations ( as per the site “Earthworks” Specification)(iii)capping operations (as per the site “Remediation”Specification)(iii)sample and arrange geotechnical and contamination audit testing of imported material(iv)geotechnical instrumentation installation and readings (v)maintain site diary and issue monthly report to Client.(vi)regualr liaison and meetings with the Contractors with and on behalf of the Client. Write minutes of meetings.The engineer will report, in the first instance, to the head Office project manager and project director. From time to time and as required, say approximately once per month, the engineer shall be required to visit the Head office.The secondary duties are to act as the key site based contact for the client to liasie with the consultancy. This contact role includes:-(i)liaise with client project manager as required(ii) be aware of and liaise, as necessary with client, concerning consultancy Office based additional duties (design work etc) (iii)attend site meetings and produce minutes for consultancy (iv)identify additional duty opportunities.
