Job Description
Duties Personally Performed:
1. To accept referrals from the Team Manager or any person delegated to act on his/her behalf
2. To interview clients and other relevant persons in the office, their homes or any other suitable venue, e.g. hospital, schools, airport, etc.
3. Assess the nature of the problem, identify relevant objectives to resolve or ameliorate the problems, take action to achieve these objectives and review the results and amend objectives as necessary.
4. Be prepared to employ whatever social work method or techniques appears relevant to the needs of the situation and is within the bounds of your competence.
5. Ensure, as far as is possible, that the resources of the department and other statutory and voluntary organizations are mobilized where relevant.
6. Ensure that within the boundaries of confidentiality and good professional practice, that there is the fullest co-operation with other agencies.
7. Seek and accept professional supervision on a regular basis from designated senior staff within the department.
8. Subject to the above, take responsibility for effectively managing a caseload, which may include the more vulnerable clients or those with complex problems having regard to the relative needs of all clients and ensuring the maximum effective use of time and resources.
9. To take responsibility for decisions made in relation to the liberty or safety of clients in emergency situations
10. To adhere to statutory and departmental policy in relation to professional and administrative matters.
11. To concentrate, if required, on specific areas of work where such concentration arises primarily from organizational needs.
12. To provide supervision for trainees or staff, other than social workers when required to do so by the Team Manager/ Assistant Team Manager.
13. To contribute to departmental research into the agency functioning and current client need if required.
14. Any other related duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.
