Job Description
Projects included road improvement schemes, new roads, bridges over rivers and railways, village bypass schemes, main drainage schemes, subways and tunnels.
The company also carried out term maintenance contracts for a number of local authorities in the London area.
In more recent years the company's client base has both changed and grown. The company has been heavily involved in the regeneration of the docklands area in East London. The company has also moved more into the private sector owing to the number of public infrastructure schemes being financed and constructed by developers.
Their client list now includes a number of major contractors as well as major developers when a Construction Manager handles the project. Many of the staff are long term employees of the company and offer a wealth of experience as well as commitment to the company, its reputation and its future.
Their work.
Demands of society have changed the balance of the types of construction carried out by the company in recent years. Town centre improvements, traffic calming, pedestrianisation schemes, Red Route construction and bus lane improvements now form a substantial part of their workload. The company employs Chartered Civil Engineers to enable them to offer a full design and construction service to clients. A project management service is also available as well as the standard construction contract to the client's design and specification.
Their requirement.
As the workload increases so does the need to augment the current staff levels. A Trainee Quantity Surveyor is needed to work within the team to deal with the day to day requirements. The position will appeal to either a graduate who has a formal qualification and has demonstrated a desire to work within the construction industry or someone who is already working in construction and desires a change of focus and a long term career. There will be an opportunity for ongoing training or day release schemes for the successful candidate.
Your Opportunity.
You will be able to work with a friendly team and develop your career in an established company that looks after its staff and clients. A salary to match your skills is offered.
You must have the requisite permission to live and work in the UK.
