An Historic City Council with 3 World heritage sites in addition to 100 conservation areas and 3000 listed buildings, seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated town planner to come and join their successful team.

The team faces a diverse range of planning issues due to having city, sea and countryside all in the same district. Some exciting City led developments are shortly to start, including a major rebuilding and expansion of the local theatre.

The Council has a proactive approach towards economic development with one business park recently opened, a further just approved as part of the local plan, and one more about to commence as part of an innovative project with the University.

You will be involved in several of these projects, operating in more than just a development control role more of an interface between DC/local plans and economic development thus enjoying the interests of both, you would not be working on minor applications.

The position is full time but does allow for some flexibility including working from home. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in planning. It is essential that you have at least 4 years UK planning experience; knowledge of archaeology and historic building legislation is desirable but not essential. Membership of the RTPI.
