Planning Engineer (Warwickshire)
The West Coast Main Line has not seen any significant investment since the 1960's, with the incredible demand on the infrastructure taking its toll. Hence the advent of the West Coast Route Modernisation (WCRM) programme - Europe's largest wholesale rail renewal scheme and one of the most challenging projects of its kind in the world. In order to accomplish this, our client has a number of major requirements for experienced professionals with a strong rail background. Among the key roles is a Planning Engineer with at least three years experience in Planning to undertake the planning role for the Midlands. The position requires an individual to provide planning expertise within the team and facilitate the planning interfaces between the Area, its Contractors and central functions. Your experience should cover Project Planning and Scheduling, Engineering Planning, Construction Planning, Schedule Forecasting, Possession Planning and Schedule Monitoring.
Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for the quality of planning information and reports in the Area and compliance with procedures & processes.
Review/audit project schedules from Contractors for:
Completeness of activities (design through construction and testing and commissioning)
Coordination/integration with other projects in the same area
Quality
Adherence to programme goals
Ensuring that lost work is re-planned
Alignment with the PCS
Work with each project team in the Area as directed by the Planning Manager to ensure sound planning/scheduling practices and adherence to programme planning processes.
Responsible for integrating and reporting on the programme schedules in the Area as directed by the PM, ensuring that plans and activities are consistent with the strategic plans provided by the Central Planning Group.
Receives direction from Central Planning Group with regard to overall programme goals and planning requirements.
Coordinate the possession planning process for Area Works and ensure conformance with the West Coast processes.
