Our client is one of the largest and most respected consultancies in the country and now have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated consultant.

Their long-established groundwater modelling group is at the cutting edge in the development of sophisticated regional water resources management models for water companies, regulators and developers. They are now seeking a well-qualified, experienced and motivated groundwater modeller to raise their modelling systems and services to a new technical plane for projects in the UK and other countries.

The successful applicant will report to the Aquatic Environment manager to provide technical inputs to and technical supervision of water resource management projects.
A particular role will be the technical development of our current modelling systems both to improve their simulation of the natural environment, and their interface with and interaction with a range of different audiences. For the right person, there will be opportunities for involvement in business development, project and team management.

Applicants should have:

• A degree and a postgraduate qualification in hydrogeology, water resources engineering or similar subjects
  
• 3+ years’ experience of hydrogeology and groundwater modelling, including the common software packages (e.g. MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas etc)
  
• A sound understanding of the principals of groundwater model development, including conceptual modelling, data gathering, model construction, calibration, operation and validation
  
• Excellent IT skills; expertise in computer programming would be a major advantage (e.g. FORTRAN, Visual Basic, C++)
  
• High standards of oral and written communication, including presentations
  
• Willingness to travel and work at various locations within the UK and overseas
