For this major, ongoing telecommunication project on the Rail Network our client is looking for an experienced and practical configuration engineer, ideally conversant with GSM or GSM-R systems. The post holder will maintain the definition of the systems and be the gate keeper to proposed changes and be responsible for establishing and maintaining configuration data for the GSM-R train radio application. You will work with other Design Engineers to obtain, record, enter and manage configuration data.
Main Responsibilities:
1. To identify all configuration data required for the safe operation of the GSM-R system.
2. To partition data according to the impact that data changes bring to safety, services or O&M.
3. To put in place processes and systems to manage the configuration of data according to system safety, service or O&M risk.
4. To work with other NR design engineers to obtain operational and other data required to configure the system for operational use.
5. To establish process to validate data entry, commensurate with the level of risk presented by the data.
6. To establish process by which any required data changes can be carried out safely with minimum impact on operational service.
7. To put in place access control mechanisms and processes to ensure that data changes are carried out by authorised personnel with appropriate training.
8. To put in place auditing mechanisms to confirm that the correct configuration is maintained.
