Job Description

The construction division of this successful London based engineering contractor require a planning engineer to join their planning department. With a pedigree that goes back to the 60’s when this company was established, an ongoing workload is assured. There are schemes currently underway and these will require some monitoring from a planning perspective, however the emphasis will be on new projects in the £14 to £25m+ range.

Projects range from commercial to residential, in low rise and multi-storey schemes, including both local authority and speculative elements. We require an experienced individual able to take over from the present Planner / Programmer who will be gradually retiring. You will probably come from an Engineering or Project Management background, ideally having worked for contractors in the London market, with previous planning experience an advantage, but not essential.

You will draft effective programmes of work in conjunction with the Project Team and the Estimating department. These programmes will form the basis of successful bids and will be reviewed post contract award and monitored once work starts on site.

Project managers will take daily control, whilst your role will be to review the programmes on an ongoing basis, with the site based team and the Construction Director. The requirement will be that you will also form part of the bid team and work closely with the estimating team through the bid stage.

Expectations on salary will be met and surpassed for the right individual who can clearly demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and a desire to succeed. Exposure to civils / construction in a planning and programming remit with RC knowledge would be advantageous but not essential. The post is Head office based.
