This major Rail Consultancy leads the industry in design development and management of total rail infrastructure systems. They undertake projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction management. Currently they have an opportunity for an experienced Senior CAD Technician/Team Leader to provide support to their Civils CAD Team specialising primarily with the Structures & Bridge Teams as well as Track Engineering & Electrification Teams.

Reporting to the Discipline Engineering Team Managers you will support and assist the design teams in the production of MicroStation & AutoCAD drawings for a range of schemes including new build, reconstruction, strengthening, refurbishment and maintenance of railway structures/buildings/depots. In addition you will be responsible for leading the CAD Team with respect to system configuration, implementation of CAD standards and where necessary updating and/or altering to suit, act as the CAD business champion, promote best practice and oversee the training & development of the CAD Team.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the CAD System configuration & maintenance
Responsible for implementing CAD Standards and looking at ways to improve them through the promotion of best practice etc
In addition to the CAD Coordinator role produce general arrangement drawings, reinforced concrete detailing and scheduling, as well as structural steelwork for a variety of schemes
Support Engineering Team Managers, Project Managers and Engineers as required
Plan and organise own work
Oversee and advise on training needs
Assist with recruitment (including interviewing)
Act as CAD champion to Civil Engineering Team
Requirements
At least 15 years’ experience of MicroStation/AutoCAD within a bridge design/structures environments
Minimum of 10 years’ experience detailing reinforced concrete structures
Ability to interpret structural engineering calculations and produce steel reinforcement detailing to latest codes/standards
Minimum HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Must be able to communicate effectively, both oral and written
Ability to work to personally set deadlines and manage own time effectively in a customer focused environment Team player
