Job Description

Our client is a medium secure unit for men provides care, treatment and rehabilitation for mentally disordered offenders. You will provide support to service users, their families and carers, both within the clinic and in the community.

Preferably, you should have previously worked with mental health service users with severe enduring mental illness. You should be able to contribute to the assessment and management of risk, and co-ordinate the planning and delivery of services in accordance with the Care Programme Approach and National Service Framework.

You should have an excellent understanding of mental health issues from the service users perspective and be able to challenge discriminatory structures and practices in effective and appropriate ways. Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant mental health law and community care legislation is essential.

If not already authorised as an Approved Social Worker, you must be willing to undertake training to achieve approval. You must be registered with the General Social Care Council (GSCC).
