Job Description
Overview of role and main responsibilities
Support the General Manager of Diagnostics, in designing and achieving the key strategic and operational objectives of the business
Devise procedures and protocols, in conjunction with the Lead Radiologist, in line with the requirements of IRMER and the RCR Best Practice Guidelines
Support the General Manager in the management of professional risk within Radiology Services and sit on the Diagnostics Clinical Governance Board.
Provide and deliver agreed radiography services to customers within agreed performance targets, ensuring appropriate professional standards are maintained
Oversee Radiography services across a number of fixed sites and mobile facilities within Medical Services Diagnostic Services
Maintain a specialist knowledge radiography techniques and keep conversant with radiographic technology.
Support the General Manager in all resourcing issues for employed and self employed radiographers, including recruitment, retention, management, coaching and mentoring
Liaise with professional heads of each Diagnostics discipline and other colleagues to ensure a co-ordinated and consistent approach to the maintenance and monitoring of professional standards and product timings
Ensure Radiographers deliver their non-clinical responsibilities, e.g. IT, audit etc. Monitor action plans and support the allocation of resources as required to meet professional objectives
Contribute strategically to the securing of new business with new and existing customers, including business bids and tender documents, instigating pilots, and giving presentations
•Promote the professional profile of Diagnostics externally with new / existing customers and professional bodies
Support the integration of all the company's Diagnostics contracts
Provide professional support to the General Manager on policy issues and in relationships with customers.
Undertake any ad hoc responsibilities as and when requested by the General Manager.
Acticvely support Risk assessment and Health and Safety Standards in the working environment
Essential skills and experience
Qualifications BSc in Diagnositc Radiography or equivalent
Full registration with Health Professionals Council & 2 years experience as a Senior Radiographer (Equivalent AfC band 7 or higher)
Meet the criteria of competence in the HSE Statement on radiation protection advisers and have the relevant experience to make them suitable to provide the advice needed.
Competent in IT systems to deliver radiography services
Able to travel to different work locations – full driving license required
Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong understanding of, and ability to deal with people management issues
Management and leadership experience
Sound understanding of the issues relating to the recruitment and retention of Radiographers
Specialist knowledge of the area and implications of clinical governance
Sound understanding of legislation, professional standards and processes relating to Radiography
Flexible and innovative approach to delivering high quality professional services within a fast moving environment
Establishing and maintaining a strong customer focus to ensure effective customer relations
Able to identify and address professional training and development issues
Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills
A pragmatic approach to solving highly complex problems and applied clinical judgement
Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Evidence of effective team working
