Job Description

Overview of role and main responsibilities

Support the General Manager of Diagnostics, in designing and achieving the key strategic and operational objectives of the business
Devise procedures and protocols for use in Endoscopy services
Represent the Endoscopy nurses and technicians on the Diagnostics Clinical Governance Board and support the General Manager in the management of professional risk within Diagnostics
Provide and deliver agreed Endoscopy services to customers within agreed performance targets, ensuring appropriate professional standards are maintained
Support the General Manager in all resourcing issues for employed and self employed Endoscopy Nurses, including recruitment, retention, line-management with staff appraisal and development, coaching and mentoring
Liaise with professional heads of each Diagnostics discipline and other colleagues to ensure a co-ordinated and consistent approach to the maintenance and monitoring of professional standards and product timings
Ensure Endoscopy Nurses and technicians deliver their non-clinical responsibilities, e.g. IT, audit etc. Monitor action plans and support the allocation of resources as required to meet professional objectives
Oversee Endoscopy services across a number of fixed sites and mobile facilities
Contribute strategically to the securing of new business with new and existing customers, including business bids and tender documents, instigating pilots, and giving presentations
•Promote the professional profile of Diagnostics externally with new / existing customers and professional bodies
Support the integration of all the company's Diagnostics contracts
Provide professional support to the General Manager on policy issues and in relationships with customers.
Undertake any ad hoc responsibilities as and when requested by the General Manager.
Acticvely support Risk assessment and Health and Safety Standards in the working environment

Essential skills and experience

5 years as a registered nurse at least 3 of which have been in an endoscopy setting, with a relevant healthcare degree and ENB 906 or equivalent
Full unconditional registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council
NHS Equivalent of AfC band 8b
IT competent
Able to travel to different work locations – full driving license required
Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong understanding of, and ability to deal with people management issues
Management, leadership and budgetary experience
Budget management skills
Sound understanding of the issues relating to the recruitment and retention of Nurses & support staff working in an endoscopy service
Sound understanding of the role and implications of clinical governance
Sound understanding of Endoscopy related procedures
Flexible and innovative approach to delivering high quality professional services within a fast moving business environment
Establishing and maintaining a strong customer focus to ensure effective customer relations
Able to identify and address professional training and development issues
Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills
A pragmatic approach to solving problems
Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Evidence of effective team working
