Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

•Ensure that all images produced are of diagnostic quality.
•Monitor own performance and attend regular reviews with Line Manager to discuss progress.
•Comply with obligations in respect of the Health Care Commission and all current Health & Safety legislation.
•Keep abreast of current developments in sonography, attending specialist courses or undergoing on-site training/instruction as required. All staff are expected to be responsible for their own continuous professional development (CPD).
•Assist in orientation of new staff to the Unit.
•Support the training and development of medical, nursing and allied health professionals as required.
•Operate and help to maintain imaging equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and IPEM 77, reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards, according to agreed procedures, immediately. Equipment considered to be faulty must be taken out of action, pending repair, and a notice to that affect clearly displayed upon it.

Experience & Knowledge:

Essential:
clinical ultrasound experience
Able to demonstrate competency across a wide range of ultrasound examinations
Numerate
Good knowledge of applied human anatomy, physiology, pathology and ultrasound pattern recognition

Desirable:
Knowledge & understanding of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
Knowledge & understanding of Control Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
Knowledge & understanding of Manual Handling

Education / Qualifications:

Essential:
DCR(R), BSc or recognised equivalent qualification in diagnostic radiography.
Current HPC (Health Professions Council) registration.
Minimum DMU or Post Graduate Certificate in Ultrasound
Enhanced CRB

Desirable:
Undertaken and reported a minimum of 1000 ultrasound examinations over the last 12 months
