Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver high quality patient care which is clinically effective, evidence based and appropriate.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care as part of a collaborative programme of patient care.

Undertake the care/intervention/treatment in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practice or clinical guidelines.

Monitor individuals reactions to care/interventions/treatment and take the appropriate action to address any issues or risks.

Review the effectiveness of the interventions/treatments and other specific activities as they proceed and make any necessary modifications within their remit.

Monitor the patient’s condition and respond to, record and report any adverse events or incidents relating to the intervention/treatment with an appropriate degree of urgency.

Maintain clear and concise patient records.

Liaise and communicate effectively with all members of the clinical team.

Supervise and support junior staff in the delivery of care, providing education, training and mentorship.

Participate in integrated governance and risk assessment.

Undertake delegated responsibility for senior staff during short periods of absence.

Administer medicines in accordance with NMC guidelines, policies and procedures.

Participate in the on call rota for the department.

With appropriate training and support, take charge of a shift without direct supervision by the person with continuing responsibility.

Demonstrate an organised, effective, and timely approach to all tasks.

Recognise when colleagues need assistance and offers practical support.

Work in a way that minimises risks to the health, safety and security of self and others.

Provide input to the review, update and implementation of policy and procedural changes within area of responsibility.

Input to the development of the service / practice within area responsibility.

Correctly follow routine maintenance schedules and procedures for equipment.

Accurately test equipment and identify any deviations from required performance standards, together with their likely causes and take the appropriate action if a fault cannot be resolved

Clean and restore equipment and work areas, leaving them in a suitable condition for future use.
