Job Description

This national residential developer are actively looking to appoint an senior materials buyer to their surveying/Commercial Department. You will report to the Chief Buyer of the region.

The main duties of the role are as follows:

To ensure that specified materials are available on sites to meet programmes, specifications and estimates.

Obtain all information from relevant departments prior to site commencement, ie, full set of working drawings, build programme, finish schedule, specification and detail requirements.

Produce site comprise schedule.

Create package of Standard House Type schedules from base information and incorporate with site specification and finishing schedule.

Check schedules with Estimator as to any outstanding scheduling requirements.

Produce site/plot specific material schedules if required.

Formulate tender lists.

Prepare necessary documentation to receive a minimum of 3 tenders.

Analyse tenders for compatibility.

Compare with budget figures and advise on letting cost.

Identify products that are sole supply/group deal.

Check with site specification and negotiate if necessary.

Raise material supply orders.

Liaise with Build department on supplier performance and compliance with order conditions.

Identify any costs which are likely to exceed budget and advise.
