Job Description
The post will contribute to ensuring the efficient delivery of planning decisions within the context of the 4 statutory as well as the objectives and policies of the Authority. You will carry out the assessment and processing of selected applications for planning permission, Certificates of Lawful Use and other consents, including drafting reports for the Director, present reports to the Planning and Development Control Committee as required, inspect and validate submitted applications for planning permission, Certificates of Lawful Use and other consents, provide cover for area case officers when absent on leave or dealing with significant appeal inquiries, contribute as required to the Authority's Planning Enforcement responsibilities and liaise effectively with enforcement staff, guide administrative and technical support staff in the effective operation of planning application handling systems, the preparationof plans and in the preparation of various planning notices, prepare written appeal statements, and where required act as the Authority's representative at planning hearings and appeal site visits, deal with correspondence and general enquiries, advise and assist the general public, Board, members, local councils and other bodies, and negotiate with applicants and agents on planning matters and to secure quality development in accordance with the their aims and development plan policies. A recognised degree or diploma in Town & Country Planning is essential. Corporate or Technical Membership of the RTPI, or eligibility for membership.
