| I am a New Zealander and arrived in London three months ago. I have been finding it difficult setting up a UK bank account, due to problems getting my name on a flat utilities bill. I recently heard that 1st Contact offer a package that includes setting up a bank account, and would like to arrange one - how do I do that? |

Opening a bank account can certainly be a pain! I know I have been through it personally. Banks in the UK require you to provide a UK residential address to which the bank can send documents - you may use a friend or relative's address but not a hostel or guesthouse.
You will need to provide documentation for this address (for example a letter from your friend or relative confirming that you are staying with them AND an official document in their name to verify this address. eg. a utilities bill or personal bank statement).
If you want more information on the package - Send an email to jane.stewart@workgateways.com with "bank account" in the subject. |
