I am hoping someone can clear this up for me because I am having trouble getting clear advice in the normal channels.

I am an Australian citizen, 33 years old.
I have been invited for an interview by a UK company. They requested that I bring to the interview proof of my legal eligibility to work in the UK. I assume I don't need to apply for a work visa before getting the job, and that they will sponsor the successful applicant. The list of documents is quite confusing. The list mentions things like letters from the Home Office.
I should say I am living in the UAE. Does anyone know if I can get these documents here? Or if I need to go back to Australia to do it?

If anyone can give me clear advice on what to do I will be eternally grateful!
Thank you

Thats a big assumption to make, normally most companies would expect you have to already have permission to work (passport/right of abode/ancestry/tier 1/possibly YMS) before applying for the job.

Some specialist roles companies may be willing to sort tier 2 sponsorship out but they would definitely be in the minority. If they are asking you for proof at the interview it doesn't sound like they are expecting to take this route.

Applying for a Tier 2 visa for an employee is an unnecessary expense (unless your field is really specialised) so most cos. avoid this route, especially when they can get easy manpower during these economic traumatic times. If you really are interested to come to UK to work, would be best if you arm yourself with a valid Tier 1 or 5 in advance.
