Hello,
We applied for our Visa's and set the date for our visa's to start on the 21/07/09 - (which were our booked tickets supplied). When we got our visa's back they started the day they printed the visa 20/05/09. Which is a huge cut off from 2 full years.
I have a stamp on the visa of me arriving on the 22/07/09.
What would my end date be? I am trying to apply for jobs and the time I can work is getting shorter and my chances are getting smaller .
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
Amanda |

Unfortunately you should have sorted this out before you entered the UK - you should have contacted the Home Office and let them know that they started your visa on the wrong date and got them to re-issue it. If the date on your visa has it starting on the 20/05/09 then it will expire two years from that date.
You could try contacting the British embassy in Canada, however this late down the track, I don't think there is really anything you can do. _________________ Pru

The end date should be printed on the visa, otherwise its 2 years from the start date - the entry date has no bearing.
There's a chance you could have got it changed before you used it, but now that you have entered on that visa nothing can be done unfortunately. |

Wow that isn't good . Why bother putting at date in????. We couldn't post our passports back cause my husbands work needed to send him 2 weeks before. So the start date isn't always an option...It should be 2 years the date you ENTER.
I am from Australia and am returning for a week in March, is there something I can do then???
Thanks for your replies. |

It seems they commonly disregard the 'intended date of travel' on the application form, and use the date the visa was approved instead.
But regardless, that is of no use to you now.
Not much you can do when back in Aus, except apply for a Tier 1 if you are eligible. |

Agreed with the above. Sorry there's not any better news for you Amanda. Another route is that if your husband can get sponsored by his company then you would also be eligible for a visa. _________________ Pru
