With calculating earnings from australia, do I include my superannuation contributions? or just my pay before tax excluding super?

You just include your earnings before anything is taken out ie your full salary.

My advice is definitely don't include superannuation. I have just been through this and Canberra advised me NOT superannuation, just gross salary that's taxable. It's only your taxable income that counts.
