Your essential introduction to property jobs in the UK
The Property industry in the UK is very well established and has been benefiting from the arrival of qualified international property professionals for many years. While there is a fair amount of competition for UK property positions, there is also a reasonably consistent demand for candidates. Property professionals with at least a year's post-graduation experience in either a private practice, consultancy or from within local government will find the UK a welcoming place for employment. Smaller peaks and troughs are normal and do occur – prepare before you go over by applying to suitable jobs and registering with agencies through WORKgateways.

Where are the UK Property jobs located?
Property jobs are available UK-wide mostly the urban settings and to a lesser degree also in regional setting. London generally is the focus for traveller’s jobs in the UK and whilst there is still a fantastic requirement for property professionals with 1 to 2 years experience in London, many great opportunities exist particularly in other major cities. Interestingly, rates of pay can be almost as high as the jobs in London and the cost of living in these other locations is significantly less.
How much can I expect to earn as a Property Professional in the UK?
For most recently graduated (one to three years experience) Property Professionals the average starting contract rate is usually between £15 to £20 per hour. This is approximate and does not take into account your taxation status. See PAYE and Ltd Company.
Those arriving in the UK for work with over fours years experience may expect their contract rates to start around £18 to £24 per hour. It is also important to note that your contract rates often increase as you gain that important exposure to the UK’s property system and legislation.

What should my UK Property resume look like?
Be sure your resume includes specific details of your employer’s business/services (most UK clients will use this to associate your existing employer with a UK based firm) and duties / responsibilities for each position you have held. This is the most common complaint from UK property recruitment consultants – ‘not enough information or detail!’ Point-form lists of duties, or work carried out on a daily basis is a good idea. Special projects undertaken (are they commercial or residential) can certainly be mentioned as well.
